Reason to stay home during summertime #1:
See, when two fronts meet, they create a low-pressure area, characterized by either pouring rain or unbearable humidity, the two optimal conditions to stay home and listen to Belle & Sebastian.
Well today is the third official day of summer vacation. So far summer’s going pretty bad. I still have bags under my eyes from lack of sleep, but I feel a bit better though.
Anyways, enough with the boring stuff about my well-being. So far I can’t say my summer is going great, but it really looks like it’s going to get better. The only day that felt like summer yet was the last day of school, the guitar ensemble performace at Murrow to be exact. That was one of those nights filled with girls, music and… confusion. Good times.
Right now I’m not at my greatest. I think the worst feeling in the world is living in New York during summer without air conditioner (which apparently had to bring about ton of problems, and now those problems look even worse when you’re hot as hell and can’t think straight). But that’s getting fixed soon. I’ve also been feeling kind of lonely, in a Velvet Underground’s “Stephanie Says” kind of way, but I’m fighting that too.
The good news is that, despite all this going on right now, summer looks very promising. I got called back from my last summer’s video editing studio, thus I’ll most likely have a job. Sweden finally scored a goal and will now hopefully advance in the World Cup. Well, The World Cup is on, that’s a major great event of the summer. I finally put on my pocket knife keychain with bottle opener on (it won’t pose as a security threat now that there’s no school anymore). I’m going to PA next weekend. Daniel’s birthday party is next Friday. Then Bloc Party show, and hopefully I’ll get the tickets to see The New Pornographers, Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, Iron and Wine, and some other shows that might be added this summer. July 1st is Danielle’s birthday party. Then we’re having our little Hipster Discotheque sometime soon. And our trips to the beach… Ahh how can someone feel lonely with all these things looking up? Summer, I love you! (though it would be nice if you cooled off for a few days until I get my AC back on kthx)
Peace
Hipster Discotheque - a party where indie kids pretend they can dance. Based on the philosophy that dancing ability is not important when you have great music.
We’re so having one of these this summer.
My guitar teacher asked me to write a pop song. With verse, chorus, bridge, etc. I wrote four chords that sound really nice. He was kind of disappointed, but I can’t help not being a corporate rock type of guy.
