On this rainy November day I decided not to stay in bed, but rather visit Bay Ridge. After wasting an hour or two in 72nd street Starbucks, Daniel and I decided to take a walk to Street Sounds on 92nd. It’s a cute little record/guitar store and we used to go there like every week for the past three summers. They’ve been doing some renovation lately so we haven’t gone there in a while.
We came in and the nice chick that used to work there was permanently replaced by that quiet guy with glasses. We were the only customers in the store, so it was filled with awkward silence and Nick Drake playing quietly in the background. When we went to check out the guitars, the access to the electrics hanging on the wall was blocked by a stack of hard acoustic guitar cases on the floor, and a sign on the wall said “Ask for Assistance”. Some old guy was sitting in the back watching us as we were going to steal something, and as if that wasn’t enough to break our hearts, when some kids tried to go downstairs to vinyl section, the old guy spoke out “There ain’t nothin’ for you kids down there!”. Upon hearing that, we rushed out of the store commited to never ever come back.
The only music store in Bay Ridge is now lost and I can’t help but remember wasting those boring summer days downstairs playing Queen vinyls and jamming the bootleg Austin-made Telecasters. Those were glory days.

Sick again. I missed school Monday and Tuesday (though Tuesday was election day). Today I woke up and it was raining, so I decided to stay home again not to miss the beauty of watching rain through my window. It worked out semi-well until the frustration about being sick and missing school kicked in again in the afternoon. I get sick way too often. Last time I had a cold was a little more than a month ago.
I can’t help worrying over missed schoolwork either. I feel so behind and it just wears me out.
Moral of the story: Getting sick can be fun, but not every month. :(

I think I lost the only female friend I had. But then again, who needs friends when you have peanut butter and The Beach Boys? Friends come and go but peanut butter is forever.
